Alan M. Scarnavack 78, Veteran  USMC, passed away peacefully in Naples, FL on April 4th 2016. He was born in Chicago, IL on April 21, 1937. He attended Christ the King Grammar School and graduated from Leo High School. Following his military service he received a BS in Education from the University of Illinois. He then went on to receive a JD from Chicago Kent College of Law in 1972. He also did post doctorate work at Northwestern University College of Law. His legal career spanned 40 years and included work in The Chicago Police Department, The Cook County State Attorney's Office and Office of the Public Defender of Cook County. He was a proud Life Member of the Marine Corps League, The Marine's Memorial Club, The Windy City Club, The Canaryville Veteran's Association and The American Legion Hardee Mills Post. Alan was also a member of The American Bar Association, The Illinois Bar Association, The Chicago Bar Association and The Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Attorney's. He was a dynamic lecturer and taught at St. Xavier University, The John Marshall School of Law, ITT Chicago-Kent College of Law and The Chicago Police Dept. Training Academy. His many professional awards include the South Chicago Kiwanis Club Outstanding Prosecutor and DePaul University Phi Theta Law Fraternity's Abraham Lincoln Award. In 2002 he was honored by Mayor Richard M. Daley for his resolution adopted by the Council of the City of Chicago. Beloved son of the late Samuel and Marie, nee Roubeck. Dear father of Michael (Wendy), John (Kimberly), Molly Weeks, Daniel (Jill), Matthew (Helane). Loving grandfather of Jake, Samuel, Isabel, Melissa, John, Michael Henry, Elisabeth, Olivia, Dylan, Daniel Alan, Andrew, Daniel, Cole, Cade, Guilia, Lucas and Nicholas. Fond brother of Linda, Gloria and Claudia. Visitation Monday 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Beverly Ridge Funeral Home; 10415 S. Kedzie Ave. Family and friends will gather at Christ the King Church; 9235 S. Hamilton Ave., Chicago, IL 60643 on Tuesday 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass 10:00 a.m.  Interment St. Mary Cemetery.
