Judith Engstrom Obituary

Judith Arlene Engstrom, Nee Berki,

of Chicago, Illinois passed away on April 11, 2024 at the age of 78 years old. Family and friends know her as "Judy".

Judith is the beloved wife of the late Gordon Engstrom. Dear Mother of June Wylie ( husband John), Emily Engstrom, David Engstrom

( wife Elizabeth) and Daniel Engstrom. 

Loving grandmother of Niah, Isabel, Sofia, Davey, Nathan and Johnny.

Beloved aunt to Michealene Bixeman and Robert Coughlin. Judy also had two beloved dogs..Baby girl and Pebbles.

Judy loved to ride her bike as well as  walking her dogs. She loved being a mom and grandmother and always made sure her family was well taken care of. She had such a giving heart and always did so much for others. Judy loved going to the Art Institute of Chicago, attending Broadway musicals, Chicago Symphony Orchestra concerts , her daughter Emily's piano performances and loved going to resturants especially Berghoffs, Artists Cafe, Bakers Square , Wonderburger and Beverly Woods in Chicago. She also loved to grab an icecream cone from Rainbow Cone in Beverly.

Judy was very proud of her Hungarian heritage and always talked about her grandmother Julianna who would make apple strudels from scratch. Her hungarian grandmother Julianna had a beautiful garden and would give her fresh flowers to take to her teachers at school. Judy was a fabulous cook and baker. She was known for her homemade stuffing, lasagna, orange mandarin jello and her famous nut cups and peanut butter cookies.

Judy also attended University of Illinois at Chicago's Navy Pier campus. Judy was a legal secretary and had various other jobs as well throughout her life.

Judy also was amazing at ice skating and roller skating. As a kid she participated and won medals for these sports through the Chicago Park District. Judy also loved to watch tennis and her favorite tournament was Wimbledon. She loved watching especially Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal. Judy also was a soccer coach for her sons AYSO Soccer team. She also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears football.

She was an amazing and hard-working person. She is reunited with her beloved husband Corky in heaven. May she rest in peace.

Memorial Service has been postponed and will be scheduled at a future date. Thank You.
